Così nel 1935 Krupp e Daimler-Benz proposero e realizzarono un progetto basandosi sullo scafo del Panzer I Ausf. B., il mezzo che a quell'epoca era prodotto in numeri più consistenti.\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eRispetto al mezzo originario, il Befehlswagen si differenziava per una grossa sovrastruttura, all'interno della quale era ospitata una piccola sala operativa, con mappe e una potente radio trasmittente. Ad ogni modo, lo spazio rimaneva estremamente angusto, per cui appena fu possibile l'esercito decise di predisporre carri comando basati su scafi di carri medi. In totale vennero realizzati 190 carri comando sullo scafo del Panzer I e vennero impiegati sin dalla campagna di Polonia e fino a quella dei Balcani della primavera '41. So in 1935 Krupp and Daimler-Benz proposed and implemented a project based on the hull of the Panzer I Ausf.
