The kleiner Panzerbefehlswagen, identified by the Heer as SD.Kfz.265, was designed to meet the army's need for a command tank to allow the commanders of panzer companies to follow the units on vehicles with similar performance to combat tanks. So in 1935 Krupp and Daimler-Benz proposed and implemented a project based on the hull of the Panzer I Ausf. B., the only tank which at that time was produced in great numbers.
Compared to the original vehicle, the Befehlswagen differed in a large superstructure, inside which was housed a small operations room, with maps and a powerful radio transmitter. In any case, the space remained extremely narrow, so as soon as it was possible the army decided to prepare command tanks based on the hulls of medium tanks. A total of 190 kleiner Panzerbefehlswagen were built on the hull of the Panzer I and were used since the Polish campaign and up to that of the Balkans in the spring of '41. Many of them were sent to Libya to be employed in the Afrika Korps units.
In each Mussini package there is one kleiner Panzerbefehlswagen in 1/72th scale, already assembled. The parts are not glued to let the painting easier.
