The bas-relief is freely taken from an engraving by the French painter Maurice Leloir.
French illustrator, watercolorist, draftsman, engraver, writer and collector,
he was one of the most important artists of his time. Leloir belonged to a famous dynasty of French painters.
In line with the fashion and taste of his time, Maurice Leloir devoted himself with his paintings above all to the historicist genre. A frequent theme of his works is the luxurious life during the reign of King Louis XV. Leloir's images shine through the detailed reproduction of people, costumes and backgrounds. These include streets, pavilions, gardens, ships and cannons.
Around 1890, Leloir and his students flooded the market with illustrated books, inspired by photographs that faithfully represented customs and attitudes of the past, much appreciated by bibliophiles.
Sculpted and painted by Bianca Sandri.
Dimensions: 10x8 cm
Product Notes
The bas-reliefs of our production are hand-cast into molds using very fine high quality ceramic powder that creates smooth and delicate surfaces that highlight all the smallest details of the sculpture. After drying, the piece is treated on the surface with waxes to better finish the product that can be painted with both oil and acrylic even without the addition of a primer.
