The bas-relief takes up the famous oil painting by John William Waterhouse, a British painter, belonging to the Pre-Raphaelite current. He is considered a "modern Pre-Raphaelite", as his works date back to a few decades after the dissolution of the Pre-Raphaelite brotherhood (1849-1917).
The origins of the myth of Tristan and Iseult are Celtic, but as for written sources they are so numerous and scattered throughout the world, even if most of them are incomplete (due to the death of the authors, almost as if the story should not be over, for hide something arcane and secret) that it is difficult to really establish which was the first, especially if we consider that the further we go back, the fewer written sources there are.
Dimensions: 8x10 cm
Sculpture: Bianca Sandri
Product Notes
The bas-reliefs of our production are hand-cast into moulds using very fine high quality ceramic powder that creates smooth and delicate surfaces that highlight all the smallest details of the sculpture. After drying, the piece is surface treated with waxes to better finish the product which can be painted with both oil and acrylic paints even without adding a primer.
