Il bassorilievo è liberamente ispirato ad una illustrazione di Francis Chantrey (1872) e raffigura l'attesa di Penelope vicina alle armi che Ulisse lasciò prima di partire per la guerra di Troia .
Vicina a lei le sue ancelle condividono il suo dolore unitamente ad Euriclea, la vecchia nutrice di Ulisse, l'unica a capo coperto e l'unica che lo riconoscerà al suo arrivo ad Itaca sotto mentite spoglie.
La figura di Penelope rappresenta la fedeltà, che la porta ad aspettare il marito che tutti credevano morto per vent’anni, sola nella conservazione dell’unità della famiglia, e nella direzione dell’oikos, rimasto senza uomini: il figlio Telemaco, infatti, sta appena iniziando a dare i segni di una certa maturità e Laerte, l’anziano padre di Odisseo, è ormai infermo.
La regina di Itaca non mostra solo fedeltà e intelligenza, ma anche astuzia quando riesce a ideare lo stratagemma della tela, che le serve per allontanare i Proci che insidiano lei ed il suo trono.
Al ritorno agognato di Ulisse la Dea Atena provvede ad allungare la notte seguente all’incontro fra i due, in modo che possano raccontarsi liberamente tutto ciò che è loro accaduto. Esprimono rimpianto per la passata giovinezza, consolazione per essere finalmente insieme, il piacere di sentire le loro voci dopo tanto tempo e la serenità che ha portato Odisseo, garantendo la sicurezza della casa.

I bassorilievi di nostra produzione sono colati a mano in stampi usando polvere ceramica finissima di alta qualità che crea superfici lisce e delicate che danno risalto a tutti i più minuti particolari della scultura. Dopo l'asciugatura il pezzo viene trattato in superficie con cere per rifinire al meglio il prodotto che si potra' dipingere sia ad olio che ad acrilico anche senza l'aggiunta di un primer.

The bas-relief is freely based on an illustration by Francis Chantrey (1872) and depicts Penelope close to the weapons that Ulysses left before leaving for the Trojan war.
Close to Penelope, her handmaids share her pain together with Euriclea, the old nurse of Ulysses, the only one with covered head and the only one who will recognize him when he arrives in Ithaca in disguise.
The figure of Penelope represents fidelity, which leads her to wait for her husband whom everyone believed dead for twenty years, alone in preserving the unity of the family, and in the direction of the oikos, left without men: her son Telemachus, in fact, is just beginning to show signs of maturity and Laertes, Odysseus' elderly father, is now infirm.
The queen of Ithaca not only shows fidelity and intelligence, but also cunning when she manages to devise the stratagem of the canvas, which she needs to ward off the suitors who threaten her and her throne.
On the longed-for return of Ulysses, the Goddess Athena extends the night following the meeting between the two, so that they can freely tell each other everything that has happened to them. They express regret for their past youth, consolation to finally be together, the pleasure of hearing their voices after a long time and the serenity that Odysseus brought, ensuring the safety of the house.

The bas-reliefs of our production are hand-cast into molds using very fine high quality ceramic powder that creates smooth and delicate surfaces that highlight all the smallest details of the sculpture. After drying, the piece is treated on the surface with waxes to better finish the product that can be painted with both oil and acrylic even without the addition of a primer.

Returning the goods
After notifying us of your withdrawal you have 14 days to send the products back to us. The item must be returned in its original packaging, with all the parts intact as at the time of delivery. You are responsible for any diminished value of the goods resulting from handling other than what is necessary to establish their nature, characteristics and functioning.
The cost of returning the goods is at your expense, except where the product is damaged or not as described, in which case we bear it.
Refund
We will refund you all payments received, including the cost of standard outbound delivery, within 14 days of the day on which we are informed of your withdrawal. If, when placing the order, you chose a more expensive delivery than the standard one we offer, the difference remains at your expense.
We may withhold the refund until we have received the goods back or until you supply evidence of having sent them back, whichever happens first. The refund is made using the same means of payment used for the purchase, at no additional cost to you.
When the right of withdrawal does not apply
The right of withdrawal does not apply to goods made to measure or clearly personalised (art. 59 of the Italian Consumer Code). This category includes models painted on request and work carried out specifically for you: we always tell you before confirming the order.
Damaged, missing or defective products
If one or more items arrive damaged, or if something is missing, write to us straight away at info@mussinisas.it, attaching a photo if possible. We will send the missing or damaged parts, or replace the whole product, at no cost to you.
In addition to the right of withdrawal, as a consumer you are entitled to the 24-month legal guarantee of conformity from delivery, provided for by articles 128 et seq. of the Italian Consumer Code. In the event of a lack of conformity you may request the repair or replacement of the goods and, under the conditions laid down by law, a price reduction or the termination of the contract.
Where we accept returns from
We accept returns from any country. For purchases made outside the European Union the same conditions described here apply; any customs duties and import taxes already paid are not refundable by us.
