The A13 was the third model of cruiser tank that equipped the British armoured battalions at the outbreak of the Second World War. They went into production during 1939, but not in sufficient numbers to fully equip the tank brigades, which therefore lined up a mix of A9, A10 and A13 at the beginning of the hostilities, with consequent logistical problems. With the other cruisers the A13 shared the armament, the 2 pounder (40 mm), which, however, counterbalanced the absence of HE shells, which made the vehicles vulnerable to enemy infantry and artillery positions. Unlike the older A9 and A10, the A13 boasted a new type of rolling wheels, inspired by the Christie models, used by Soviet BT-class tanks. It was much faster than other cruisers, even off-road, and was much appreciated by the crews. It remained in line until 1941, when it was replaced by the more modern A15 Crusaders, and was mainly used on the Libyan front.

In each box of Mussini models there is a Cruiser A13 already assembled, but the parts are not glued. The model is divided in upper and lower hull, left and right parts of wheels and tracks, and rotable turret. There are also two little turret of the tank commander, one with the hatch closed and the other with the hatch open. Also a figure of the tank commander is included.
